One of the best places to go for a destination wedding is Mexico. Why? It is close enough that more of the people that you love will be able to get there – as you can get to the Caribbean portions of the country easily from nearly every major international airport in the United States.

Even if you aren’t worried about people paying for their way to your wedding or you don’t plan to have a large wedding, Mexico is a beautiful location to have your wedding. The country is known for granting couples the destination weddings of their dreams.

The question is, then, where should you have your wedding in Mexico? Here are some of our top options to consider in the Caribbean portion of Mexico:

Cancun, Mexico Weddings

One of the most obvious choices for a Mexican wedding destination is Cancun. This beautiful, world-famous area has been the location of many weddings. Perfect for the young or the young at heart, Cancun is home to restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and activities that will make your wedding one to remember. If space is of concern to you, that is something you won’t have to worry about here. Most of the hotels are sprawling complexes or high-rise resorts that fit any ceremony capacity. There are smaller resorts as well if you want a more personalized feel.

Note that the beaches here aren’t as private as some of the other destination wedding locations in Mexico. The beaches are a bit rocky, but well tended-to and cared for by the resorts. Another added bonus? It is just 25-minutes away from the airport.

Recommended Resort: Finest Playa Mujeres

Finest Playa Mujeres

The Finest Playa Mujeres is a wedding resort just recently opened, so it is upscale, chic, and has everything you could want. Even better, it is on a secluded bit of beach and in a gated community. This makes it perfect for those that have a varied wedding party – with those who want to go out and those that want to stay in. Luxury is the name of the game here, with world-class pools and food.

The entry-level package comes with a junior suite. You’ll get a beach or gazebo ceremony location (with up to 120 guests), a wine toast, digital photos, ceremony decorations, spa discounts, and a wedding cake.

For that package, you get a wedding coordinator, wedding cake, turndown services, digital full-color photos, spa discounts, and a honeymoon package. There are three venue options:‌ the beach (with 70 guests max), the Lupita Lounge (with 45 guests max), and the El Mar Terrace (also with 45 guests max).

Riviera Maya, Mexico Weddings

Known for some of the most beautiful jungles around, the Riviera Maya is a top choice for Mexico destination weddings. Located south of Cancun, you can expect to see many sprawling resorts and long stretches of white sand beaches. The beaches here are a little softer and more private. Your guests will appreciate the chance to relax – and maybe even see peacocks, monkeys, iguanas, and the local Coati. Many hotels will plan getaways and events to help make this event one to remember.

But where should you stay? Here are our top choices:
