A group of our travel agents recently took a wedding field trip to Mexico to get a real look at the exciting wedding resorts, and new developments in, and around, the Cancun area. This area is one of the most popular in the globe for destination weddings, and for good reason. You can expect fair prices, beautiful beaches, and all-inclusive resorts that offer the very best in wedding planning.
Follow below as we feature the resorts our experts visited and some of their favorite details from each:
Dreams Riviera Cancun
“This is one of our top-selling resorts, and it’s so easy to see why! The lobby was stunning, and the wine cellar is an amazing event space for smaller wedding parties. The true perk of reserving a Preferred Club Suite is that you get a private jacuzzi on your balcony. The deck area is a great ceremony choice for couples who want a venue along the beach, without having to put your feet in the sand.”
Wyndham alltra Cancun
“A small beach for Playa del Carmen, but right in the action, close to nightlife and local culture. The walk-out rooms have their own designated cabana beds, for no extra charge. There are multiple venues and with only 1 wedding a day, it’s sure to make your time there special. You can also take a ferry to Cozumel nearby.”
Sandos Playacar
“We were so impressed by this resort, there are large Hacienda-style suites that can fit larger families, with 8 rooms each. There’s also a select club, for adults-only right along the beach. There are also some ADA-certified rooms. The secluded garden venues are great for private wedding events, from ceremony to receptions. Stay tuned for future upgraded wedding packages!
Hard Rock Riviera Maya
We loved that there were actually 2 wedding chapels to choose from, and several of the restaurants have ocean views. We found out that this hotel has the largest spa in Riviera Maya, with over 75 treatment rooms. The amount of activities available is endless.”
Royalton Riviera Cancun
“The sky terrace was absolutely stunning, one of the best wedding venues we saw. There are 2 bridal suites to get ready in, and the bride and groom will be upgraded automatically to Diamond Club based upon availability. The unique wedding gazebo was even nicer in person, and a great ceremony choice.”
NOW Emerald
“There were so many wedding locations to choose from, it was great. The wedding does have an older feel, but the outside has been completely revamped thanks to AM Resorts. There is only 1 wedding per day, and a complimentary room upgrade for the wedding couple.”
Dreams Playa Mujeres
“The garden takes up the center of the resort and it’s HUGE! There is no adults-only pool, but adults can also enjoy the Secrets next door. The master suites were beautiful and very large, and this resort would be great for Indian destination weddings, as well as larger destination wedding groups.”
Hard Rock Cancun
“The beach is the main attraction here, perfect for a wedding ceremony. There is no bridal suite yet, but their working on adding one. There’s also a great convention center here, so it would be good for business or corporate groups.”
Majestic Elegance Playa Mujeres
“We caught a sneak peek of the new Majestic opening later this year. There will be 2 sides, with about 30% devoted to families and 70% devoted to adults-only. The hard opening is set for January 2020. A gazebo in the middle of the property will be surrounded by a lazy river. The Skyview Lounge is 2 levels and gorgeous, and one wedding venue will be able to hold 200 guests.”
