Destination wedding at Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana – an Honest Review from Sonja and Eric

Destination Wedding Details

Destination wedding review at Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana – Dominican Republic

The Couple

Eric and Sonja met when she was assigned as the Customer Experience Coach for his phone team, at work. They worked together for a little over a year but had never met in person. Sonja said, “I had developed a virtual crush.” On the last day with the team, before she moved to a new one, he asked her if they could continue talking and if they could go out on a date, and she said yes. Their first date was on February 13th, 2015 and they were married 4 years later to the date. After they had just bought a house together in a new part of the state, the couple celebrated a new job for Eric with a bonfire and drinks in the backyard. He put on a song that he dedicated to her, got down on one knee, and proposed to her.

The Planning

On a trip to Punta Cana for their 2 year anniversary, they fell in love with the country and knew they wanted a destination wedding. Together with Destify, and their agent Jessica, they chose the Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana resort. Sonja said, “Jessica was quick with responses and so helpful to me and my guests.” The Grand Bahia process was simple leading up to their wedding. They chose their package, provided the date and the number of guests.

The Wedding

Once they arrived at the resort they met with the planner, who was wonderful to work with as well. She showed them the ceremony and dinner location in person and provided information on flowers, music, food, and costs for their final decisions. On the night of their guest’s arrival they held a welcome dinner at one of the resort’s restaurants, and the day before their ceremony they had a practice rehearsal. The couple held their wedding ceremony at the Grand Bahia beach gazebo, which provided panoramic views of the waters. Following their ceremony, their package included a private reception at a private room of one of the resort’s restaurants. Their package also included a romantic dinner for two on the beach, and it included a waiter and a beautiful table set up right next to the water. Sonja said, “The food was amazing, the wine was amazing and the view was unforgettable.”
