Q: How long have you been a wedding coordinator?
A: For 12 years.

Q: How many weddings have you coordinated?
A: Around 800 weddings.

Q: What makes your resort a great place for a destination wedding?

A: Our beautiful sunsets!

Q: What are the challenges brides face when planning their destination wedding at your resort?

A: The distance from home and not knowing the location most of the time.

Q: What compliments do brides typically give the resort?

A: The beautiful views of the sunset, the friendly staff and the accommodations of their requests.

Q: What is your favorite part of a destination wedding?

A: That anything can happen, and that all can be created!

Q: Can you tell us an anecdote about one of your brides when you saved the day?

A: A groom decided to surprise the bride with a proposal at the hotel along with a surprise wedding (they were together for 13 years). Since it was all a surprise, all the planning was done by the groom. The bride said yes, she was amazing with the decisions the groom had made and even said it was exactly what she wanted. He even bought the dress from a picture the bride had shown him from Spain, and it fit her perfectly!

The night before the wedding her future mother-in-law shown her a beautiful dress she had for the wedding (a Victorian dress) but the color was off-white and the bride and family freaked out because they thought only the bride should be wearing white. Since they were so worried about the attire I got my assistant to drive them into town where they spent three hours at the shops until they found the perfect one! They made it back with 5 hours to spare, we hemmed and shortened everything to fit perfectly and the wedding turned out to be one the most emotive and beautiful weddings we’ve had.

“The preferred rooms were quiet and spacious. The food was sufficient and there was plenty of places to choose from. In the all inclusive package all water props for snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding are included so a big plus! The best time to enjoy the pool is after 6 pm that the bar closes and there is quiet time. Definitely a place to come back for vacation!” Martha S. 3/20

“We had an incredible experience from top to bottom. The food, drinks, and service are really all top notch. We also made use of the spa and got a massage which was well worth the price. It is definitely worth upgrading to the Preferred Club as the amenities are really nice. My only complaint is that the beach is a little rocky but it the water is beautiful and made for great snorkeling!” – Javier M. 1/20

“We stayed at Secrets Aura Cozumel for our 20 year wedding anniversary. The resort exceeded our expectations. We showed proof of our anniversary and were given a nice breakfast in our room complete with mimosas. The resort was very clean the event staff had just enough activities going on. Everyone was so nice. There was more than enough food and beverages. Snorkeling was awesome in front of the hotel. Only down side the resort tries to sell timeshare/vacation package and were pestered about meeting a salesperson.” – Gretchen M. 5/18

“Lovely spot, perfect for a romantic getaway. We spent a week as part of a wedding party. Nice swim-up room with private pool. Very secluded. Try all the restaurants, they vary a lot in menu and presentation/atmosphere. I especially enjoyed the spa water treatment and massage.” – Liana S. 4/18

“My fiancee and I just got back from a trip this week, and I couldn’t wait to write this review. We did quite a bit of research, and read all the reviews, a lot of which were not favorable. I’m not sure what hotel the people who gave negative reviews stayed at, but I know it couldn’t have been Secrets Aura Cozumel. We had an absolute fantastic time from start to finish. The room and grounds were super clean, the staff, all of them, were so wonderful. My favorite is Alicia, our daily housekeeper. I loved seeing her smiling face every day, and she always took great care of us. Our mini-bar was always stocked to almost overflowing. The view from our room was even better than the view from the Sky Bar, simply because all we had to do was sit on our oversized balcony to see it. The spa was second to none. I’ve been to spas all over the world, and this one was the best by far. I can’t wait to go back. One thing you will want to do is bring water shoes, as the beach entry is a tad rocky, but once you get a few feet in the water, it’s fine. Also, you’ll definitely want to take a walk on the pier. Lots of beautiful fish to see. “ – Amy W. 7/17
