The Couple
Morgan and Saul met at a concert in Chicago, through mutual friends. It turns out they had gone to the same high school and had lived in the same town growing up. St. Partick’s day is a big deal in their hometown of Elmhurst, Illinois. The couple had everyone over in the morning before the parade, and he proposed to her in their living room in front of all their family and friends.
The Planning
The couple chose to have their wedding in Cabo San Lucas, because they loved the idea of having their destination wedding on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, where the ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. Together with their Destify agent, Cassy, they chose the Hard Rock Los Cabos resort. It had amazing complimentary deals for planning a large group wedding.
The planning process with the wedding department was difficult at times, due to most of the communication being handled by email. There were some mishaps with shuttle transport. Overall, everything was fixed, and the couple said, “All of our needs were addressed and everyone had safe travels”. Once on-site the coordinator was so helpful and gave the couple full confidence in their big day.
The Wedding
The couple hosted a welcome party on the beach the night before the wedding. The day before, many of the guests went on a group snorkeling excursion. The couple hosted their wedding ceremony on the beach at 5pm, making for the perfect time for sunset photos following. Morgan said, “The flowers were beautiful, and there were lanterns with candles leading down the aisle”.
A storm followed the ceremony and unfortunately, the couple was forced to move their reception indoors to the ballroom. Here there was a DJ, food, and dancing. The couple were optimistic about the rain and took it as a sign of luck, and at the end of the night, they even jumped into the pool which made for great photos.
Looking Back
The couples’ main advice is to enjoy the process. There was a lot of decision making but overall they feel destination weddings are the way to go! You get a week with the ones you love instead of just one day. It is stressful planning so close to your wedding date, but everything turned out perfectly once at the resort.
“During the ceremony the sunset was absolutely breathtaking, the entire sky turned pink!”
