The Couple
Nick played professional baseball and met Logan through a friend’s cousin, during the minor leagues around 8 years ago. Nick lives in Las Vegas, and he took Logan and her entire family on the iconic Ferris wheel overlooking the strip. It was a private pod, featuring drinks and appetizers, and he proposed to her, with many of those they loved present and ready to celebrate. After looking at local venues in the States the guestlist just kept growing and growing and became too overwhelming. That’s when Nick suggested a destination wedding, and Logan had always wanted her ceremony on the beach anyhow.
The Planning
Working with their Destify agent Hilary was great. Logan said, “She was prompt and answered all of our guest’s questions”. They chose the Dreams Onyx resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The couple enjoyed working with the NOW wedding department too. They corresponded mainly by email throughout a year, but much of the planning didn’t begin until closer to the wedding date. The wedding included over 60 guests.
The Wedding
Before the wedding, the couple arranged for a catamaran cruise on the day of everyone’s arrival. It was a fun party cruise, featuring scenic ocean views. On the day of the ceremony, everyone took their time enjoying the pool in the morning, and then Logan and her bridal party got their hair and make-up ready at the spa. The guy’s met an hour and a half before the ceremony to get ready. The couple held their ceremony on the beach at 5 pm and after the couple took sunset photos while their guests enjoyed a cocktail hour.
Their private reception was further along the beach at a different spot, with a buffet, music, and dancing. They loved their DJ and even had an MC who helped host the festivities. While the couple had their first dance, the wedding team set off sparklers in the background. Logan said, “They went above and beyond anything I had ever dreamed of”.
Looking Back
The couple both agree that destination weddings are the way to go, and it was super convenient. The team worked hard at being as thorough as they could be. They loved that everything was taken care of for the duration of their trip, and the entire process was so stress-free. One thing of note is that the beach at NOW Onyx isn’t completely private for weddings, so take that into consideration if privacy is a big factor for what you envision.
