The Couple
LaQuanda and Kenyata met in high school and began dating in the 10th grade, they were high school sweethearts. During a special surprise dinner, she was under the impression they were meeting friends for their anniversary dinner. When she arrived at the restaurant after work, she found all of her friends and family waiting for her, and Kentaya proposed.
The Planning
Kentaya had always known he wanted a destination wedding and LaQuanda wanted a large wedding with everyone invited, so choosing to host their wedding in Mexico was the perfect compromise. Together with their Destify agent, Steve, they chose the Dreams Jade resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. LaQuanda said, “Steve was great, he was so helpful and answered my questions at any time of the day.” Once working with the wedding department, they found response times were sometimes slow, but once on-site everything went smooth.
The Wedding
The couple really took part in exploring their area of Mexico, and they hosted a welcome party upon the night of the guest’s arrival so everyone could meet and get acquainted. On the day of the ceremony, both sides of the bridal party split up to get prepared for the ceremony. The couple held their wedding ceremony at 6:30 pm at the resort’s beautiful wedding pergola. After the ceremony, the couple took photos and hosted a private reception at the Bambu Room. It was the perfect space to celebrate with loved ones, featuring delicious food and music. After the wedding, the couple and their guests partook in many more fun excursions, like ATV riding, zip lining and even swimming in a Mexican cenote. LaQuanda’s favorite part was the ceremony, and how all of the decoration appeared just as described.
Looking Back
LaQuanda and Kentaya can’t recommend a destination wedding enough, it was really the way to go. The reason they loved it so much was that it was so stress-free, and it allowed for so much more celebration time.
