Khadijah and Quentin’s Wedding at Barcelo Bavaro Beach

The Couple

Khadijah and Quentin met through mutual friends and began dating after working together. After 4 years, Quentin would propose to her on her birthday. Although they had talked about marriage before, she wasn’t quite expecting the lavish way he went about it. She got home to find many of his friends there for a birthday party for her, and more and more of her friends began to pop out of closets and hiding places to surprise her. Finally, two of his friends got Khadijah to sit in a chair. They serenaded her with a romantic song written for her and Quentin got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage.

The Planning

The couple is saving for a house together so spending a ton of money on a wedding was not their top priority. They were already planning a vacation to the Dominican Republic so they liked the idea of having a destination wedding too. After doing research Khadijah found Destify, and her agent, Briana. Briana helped the couple select the Barcelo Bavaro Beach resort, it had a casino, beautiful beach, and was adults-only, which suited the couple perfectly.

Once working with the wedding department and her coordinator Diana, everything was as simple as could be. As the wedding date approached she selected color choices and decorations with her coordinator by email and phone. Khadijah said, “I had a hundred questions and she answered every one of them”.

The Wedding

The couple got there on a Wednesday, and their wedding wasn’t until Saturday. Check-in was quick and the couple agreed they were treated like royalty from the moment they arrived. After a 10am meeting the following day to finalize last minute location and decor details with their coordinator, they were free to enjoy their vacation. Khadijah said, “I was amazed at how stress-free it all was”.

With 16 guests in total, the day of the ceremony was equally as stress-free. The couple split up after breakfast, and the girls spent the morning taking photos and enjoying the pool before Khadijah got ready with her maid of honor for the ceremony. They held their ceremony at 3pm, at Barcelo’s beautiful wedding gazebo. After, there was champagne and drinks served, followed by a dinner reception. The couple was impressed by the wait service, who took care of everyone, even remembering dietary restrictions for certain guests.

Looking Back

Khadijah says she was almost scared at times because the process was just that worry free. There was no stress at all. You didn’t have to remember any of the little details because it was all coordinated for you, the hardest part was choosing the resort.
