The Couple
Kat and Chris met while they were both in search of roommates, and met online. A friend chaperoned Kat to their first meeting, and after chatting and hitting it off the couple began dating in December 2006. On one special Valentine’s Day, Kat was sad due to the loss of a family pet that had passed away, so Chris surprised her on the sofa with a ring and said, “Will you marry me?”
The Planning
Working with Destify and their agent, Melissa, they chose the Iberostar Selection Playa Mita all-inclusive resort, in the beautiful location of Puerto Vallarta. Kat said, “The process was easy and simple”. Together with the Iberostar wedding department, they coordinated several events during their time there, including bachelorette and bachelor parties before the wedding.
The Wedding
The couple stayed at the resort for 7 days. After arrival, the bridal parties split into guys and girls to host bachelorette and bachelor parties respectively. When guests weren’t enjoying the gorgeous pools and beach, or the delicious a-la-carte restaurants they could attend 2 days of adventure excursions to explore the area.
On the day of the ceremony, the couple kicked things off with a wedding day brunch. After getting ready the couple held their ceremony at 6pm on the beach. The couple splurged on videography, and there was a drone that captured it all on film. After taking photos and meeting guests for a cocktail hour, they held a private reception featuring a DJ.
Looking Back
Hosting a destination wedding provided to be low-stress and the couple was happy with everything. Kat’s main advice is to relax, everything will work out okay!
