The Couple
Jillian and Zach met during their freshman year of college. Originally Jillian wasn’t very fond of Zach, but after he tutored her in calculus they became best friends, and they started dating the following year. Zach proposed during a vacation to Florida, and he popped the big question during a walk along the beach one morning. Sadly Jillian fell and cut herself on the walk back from the proposal, but now they both look back on it as a funny and memorable story.
The Planning
For the past 6 years, the couple had always chosen a different Caribbean island to visit for vacation. Out of all of them, Jamaica had always been their favorite. Together with their Destify agent, Briana, they chose the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall resort because it was both upscale and family-friendly too. The couple loved that they were able to watch who was booking and when from their guest list, thanks to Destify’s dashboard, and Briana was responsive with helping guests and their needs.
The wedding planning process was seamless once working with the Hyatt wedding department. Parts were stressful, as communication was primarily through emails and phone calls, but the resort always answered any questions the couple had and would send pictures and show examples of the decor.
The Wedding
The couple had a rehearsal the day before their ceremony and also hosted a dinner where many of their guests could get acquainted before the wedding. On the day of, Jillian and her bridesmaids got ready in Hyatt’s beautiful bridal suite, featuring champagne and snacks. They held their ceremony in the ocean gazebo, with scenic views. After, the couple took pictures during the sunset while their guests enjoyed a cocktail hour featuring a steel drum band.
The reception was a blast, with delicious food, and an MC who kept the dance floor full the entire night. Jillian said, “Everything about our day was perfect”. The reception featured an ice cream bar at the end of the night, which was a huge hit, keeping everyone cool.
Looking Back
Jillian and Zach advise future couples not to stress too much. Don’t worry about your guest’s travel, if they want to come, they’ll figure it out. The couple changed details up to the day of the wedding and the Hyatt wedding department was always happy and willing to accommodate them.
