The Couple

Dedra and Wess met on Facebook. For their first date, he took her to a Malaysian restaurant. After 4 and half years of dating, they went on a special date to an Indian restaurant, and after he proposed to her at Piedmont Park in Atlanta. Diedra had gone to Jamaica in 2012 and fell in love with the country. She said, “When I get married I’m coming back to Jamaica and having a destination wedding.”

The Planning

The couple chose the Grand Palladium Resort and Spa in Montego Bay Jamaica with their Destify agent. Dedra said, “She was awesome, awesome, awesome. There were no issues.” Once working with the Grand Palladium department, it was a little rough during the initial planning. It was hard planning through email and it was difficult understanding why there were delays in communication, but a couple of months before the wedding she was assured by a new wedding coordinator and everything went much smoother.

The Wedding

Once at the resort, everything was beautiful, and their wedding party was made up of over 50 guests. The night of their arrival they hosted a meet-and-greet for their friends and family on the beach, which featured food and a DJ and plenty of photo opportunities. On the day of the ceremony the groom and bride split up to get ready with their wedding party, and they had personalized gift bags ready for each member. They had breakfast and champagne while the hair and make-up team got them prepared for their ceremony. Their ceremony was at 4 pm at the wedding gazebo overlooking the ocean. The couple took photos after while their wedding party headed to the cocktail hour. Their cocktail hour was at the Infinity Bar, and a private reception followed downstairs at the Blue Lagoon resort, with stunning views of the Caribbean. The couple also partook in so much more during their stay, with excursions that included river raft rides, horseback riding, a boat cruise, and even a romantic moonlight couples’ massage.

Looking Back

The couple was so happy everything worked out so perfectly. In fact, Dedra wouldn’t change a thing about her wedding, everything was exactly as she imagined. The couple stayed for a full week, so there was plenty of time to relax and explore.
