The Couple
Adam and Racheal met through her best friend Emily. They originally met at the poker lounge Emily worked at, and after much persistence, Racheal gave him her number. On one special afternoon, Adam claimed to be taking Emily to try a new spot in Detroit for dinner. Instead, he took her to the front of the Coleman Building, the “spirit of Detroit”, and popped the big question. After this, he took her to dinner at the Whitney Mansion, a famous antique house. A guide took them on a tour of the property, and they ended at a room upstairs where all of their family and friends were waiting to surprise them.
The Planning
The couple was considering exciting locations with Destify and they fell in love with Hotel Xcaret after their agent, Jessica, shared it with them. Working with Jessica was simple and easy, and she was always available when the couple or their guests had any questions. The wedding planning process was frustrating at times, as it’s hard to envision things when your venue is so many miles away from home. In the end, Racheal agreed she wouldn’t have had her wedding any other way, and said, “The resort was my favorite place I have ever been to, words can’t describe how beautiful it is”. The wedding team was responsive and helpful.
The Wedding
The day before the wedding the couple hosted a dinner rehearsal, where guests could get to know each other. On the morning of the ceremony, Racheal’s bridal party, mother, and aunt all took over the bridal suite within the spa. Here they got their hair and make-up done while enjoying food and mimosas. They took photos with their photographer in the spa, and since it’s located on the water it was tranquil and relaxing. Despite storming briefly, the team quickly reassembled the ceremony site and got everything back in perfect condition, saving the day.
The couple held their ceremony on a private lagoon with a swim-up beach. For her grand entrance, Racheal entered through a cave-like section, which kept her hidden until the moment she was walking down the aisle. Racheal said, “No one could see me until I came through the front of the cave, it was perfect”. They held their reception at Las Cuevas, the resort’s Brazilian steakhouse, set inside caves. Following this, there was a private bar and DJ on the beach just directly outside of the restaurant. Two days later the couple did a “trash the dress” photoshoot at a local cenote, and it proved to be Racheal’s favorite moment of the trip.
Looking Back
The couples’ main advice is to not stress too much, as everything will come together. Make sure you allow a proper amount of time for guests to book so that it’s easier for them to afford the vacation. Lastly, stop to enjoy each moment, from before, during, and after.
