If you want a wedding ceremony with a tropical setting and historic architecture as its backdrop, look no further than Waikiki’s first hotel, the Moana Surfrider Resort which opened in 1901. The plantation style ocean-front terrace is dripping with iconography, and a destination wedding here would be one covered head to toe in luxury. Impressive gathering areas are featured throughout, and there’s perhaps no better place to grab a drink then beachfront under a banyan tree listening to the nightly live music. Centrally located and with the endless beach to explore, a Moana Surfrider Resort wedding is perfect for couples looking for the perfect blend of tropical beauty and fun.
Other than its beachfront location, much of the Moana feels like it’s in the southern US, with brass elevators and wooden columns, and decorative staircase railings. The resort is such an attraction historic tours are even offered three times a week.
There’s not much peace and quiet at the resort, as even the popular courtyard attracts locals and tourists from other hotels for drinks and a glance at the architecture.
The Moana Surfrider Resort weddings shares some of their ceremony venues at the historic Royal Hawaiian nearby.

“This hotel is like a dream! We were lucky to get a complimentary stay through my step mom’s work or I’m sure it would be out of our price range, but it is an amazing place to stay! The view and location cannot be beat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beach bar is great for a cocktail but limited in food choices. Love the constant live music though! The beds, bedding, and pillows are so comfortable…I wish they were my own. Overall a great experience and we definitely want to go back!” – Sunita K. 4/19
“Our room has a beautiful view of Waikiki Beach, the room has every possible desire including an ipad with all of the hotel info and very comfortable. The pool and the beach are right off the lobby and a beautiful view of Diamond Head. There are amazing wood rocking chairs all along the front varanda for the guests to enjoy. This is paradise with a view of the sunrise and sunset.” – Nancy S. 8/17
“Its now been about 3 years since we were here last, (man how times fly) and if anything this place has just gotten even better this time around, the service, the view, the breakfast, the people, it’s all just so wonderful and there is no way to beat the location, location, location 😊, right in the heart of Waikiki in the middle of a beautiful beach, and the heart of the city, all there is to say is save up a little extra and stay here, it’s way worth it, the history, the feel, man we love Hawaii and this is just all the goodness in one place. Can’t wait to come back again. (Hopefully sooner then last time)” – Henrik E. 7/17
