Indian Destination Weddings in Mexico & the Caribbean

The bright colors and garments, and ceremony decor of a destination Indian wedding take on a further intensity when in a tropical destination. Translucent turquoise waters in the background tend to make the red of a traditional bridal saree truly pop in photography. Many couples are finding that by hosting their wedding away from home they are in turn getting a full guest list of close family and friends whom all really want to be there, and everyone is getting a vacation on top of the wedding festivities. All-inclusive resorts are well versed in Indian wedding destinations in Mexico & the Caribbean these days and are beyond happy to accommodate them. In fact, many have specialized packages with many of the common ceremonies mapped out for couples to pick and choose from. Yes, some are even equipped to rent the white horse a groom rides in on during the baraat, decked head to toe in traditional garb. Plus, by choosing an all-inclusive resort you’ll get a wedding department built into your package, which will include a coordinator to handle all of the event planning before and during your wedding.

What An All-Inclusive Resort Offers

If you’re planning your very own Caribbean or Mexico Indian destination wedding, here are some tips to help the planning process. If you have a large guest list in mind (over 100 guests), it’s smart to get the invites out as early as you can. Even the largest of all-inclusive resorts can experience periods where they are completely booked full. Furthermore, take into consideration where your guests are traveling from. For example, we recommend booking Indian weddings in the Dominican Republic, Caribbean if the majority of your guests are travelling from the southern United States. Often affordability is an issue too. What do you expect your guests to spend on their room accommodations? A major perk of hosting your wedding at an all-inclusive is that guests have unlimited access to food and drinks, saving them tons of money. Take advantage of the location and host events that have views of the ocean (like a cocktail hour on the beach) and leave some time in the itinerary for your guests to explore on their own. Most guests will be over the moon at simply being invited to such an exciting event, but be prepared if not everyone can make it. Some couples actually see that as a bonus!

Advice For First Timers

If you’re attending your very first Indian destination wedding here is some great advice to follow. Do wear colorful garment choices, the more vibrant the better! Bold colors and jewelry will allow you to fit right in. For women who don’t want to wear a traditional sari, a shimmery dress and shawl would be a great substitute. Just avoid wearing red as that is traditionally the color of the bride’s clothing. There may be some events you’re invited too and others you are not. On the first night, a priest often performs a ceremony for just the bridal party and close relatives. This ceremony may happen at home before the wedding. Many people simply want to know what to expect at an Indian destination wedding and the easiest one-word answer is ‘fun’. They often are opulent affairs where everyone has a great time celebrating a couple’s new life together. Excitement is another great word to describe one, from the over-the-top entrances to the mixture of Western and Indian music played at the reception, where nearly everyone is happy to dance and cut loose. Indian all-inclusive weddings are often a foodie’s paradise too, with large spreads of delicious food. By attending a destination Indian wedding you’ll also gain access to sights and scenes beyond the wedding activities, where you can relax and enjoy every moment. One thing is for certain, it will be hard to come back to reality after.
