Melia Caribe Tropical
Adrian and Rachel met through mutual friends, at a bonfire the summer before college. After 5 years of dating, he proposed on a trip to Niagra Falls. It was during a late night cruise, where they lit up the falls with lighting and he popped the big question as the fireworks started. They knew they wanted a destination wedding after attending ones in Mexico and Jamaica.
Together with their Destify agent, Ann, they chose the Melia Caribe Tropical resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. They liked that it was a new Caribbean destination, and the resort provided a great layout and a variety of food and drink options. Working with Destify proved to be an easy approach to planning, and Ann handled everyone’s travel needs in the group. Rachel said, “I was very grateful, I definitely would not have had time to do it myself.”
Working with the resort’s wedding department, they were able to choose between decor options and wedding packages. They chose some modifications to the free wedding package and added some extra decor for their ceremony. The couple loved that it was stress-free and simple.
Most of their wedding guests and the couple chose to stay in Punta Cana for 6 days. The night before the wedding they hosted a dinner after everyone had arrived. Their wedding was on Saturday, on the beach. The couple took photos together after, while their guests enjoyed the cocktail hour they had purchased additionally, and many of the guests said the appetizers were the best food they had had all weekend. It also included an open bar.
The couple loved how smooth the transition from wedding ceremony to cocktail reception was. After the cocktail hour, the couple met with their guests at a semi-private reception at one of Melia’s signature a-la-carte restaurants. The following day the couple hosted a Punta Cana Cruise, which turned out to be the perfect celebratory excursion. Rachel said, “It was a nice way to unwind with our guests.”
The couple agreed a destination wedding is the way to go if you want a stress-free wedding. Let the wedding planners do their job, and trust their suggestions. They also recommend purchasing a cocktail hour if your package doesn’t include one, as it’s the ideal way to keep guests entertained while you take photos.
Our wedding proved way more beautiful and put together then I had ever imagined.
